Brian, Sorry about your loss, my prayers are with you and your family.
If your surgeon does your colonoscopy in a surgical setting, and he finds a problem requiring surgery, he may be able to continue non-stop and do everything at once. At least that is a question to ask. OTOH, a specialist may recognize other issues involving gastro-related issues.
